WordPress, Webflow, Wix, Shopify: which tool for which project?

There are dozens of ways to build a site, but four platforms come up all the time. Each has a different logic. Understanding which one corresponds to your project prevents you from starting off on the wrong foot — and allows you to better discuss with a service provider.
WordPress — the Swiss army knife
WordPress powers a huge part of the web. It is a flexible, extensible system with thousands of themes and extensions, ideal for a content-rich site (blog, business site, magazine). In return, it requires a little maintenance: updates, security, hosting to manage.
For whom:content projects, scalable sites, those who want total freedom and a huge ecosystem.
Webflow — design without compromise
Webflow allows you to create sites with a very neat design, without writing code, while maintaining fine control over the appearance. The result is clean and efficient. The handling is more demanding, but the professional result is often worth it.
For whom:high-end showcase sites, portfolios, brands that want a strong visual identity.
Wix — simplicity above all
Wix focuses on ease: you drag and drop elements, and the site is built visually. Perfect for getting started quickly and inexpensively, with accommodation included. Less flexible in the long term, but more than sufficient for many small sites.
For whom:small budgets, simple sites, those who want to manage it themselves without technical skills.
Shopify — designed to sell
Shopify specializes in e-commerce. Everything is planned for sales: catalog, payment, order management, delivery, dedicated applications. You pay a monthly subscription, but you gain a solid and reliable store without worrying about technology.
For whom:any serious online store, from a small catalog to a large brand.
How to decide
Ask yourself two questions:Do I sell online?(if yes → Shopify, or WooCommerce on WordPress) andwhat level of design / freedom do I want?(maximum → Webflow or WordPress; simplicity → Wix). There is no absolute “best” tool, only the one that fits your project and the person who will maintain it.
