What exactly is no-code?

We hear about it everywhere: “no-code” would allow you to create sites, applications and tools without knowing how to program. Behind the buzzword, there is a real revolution in the way of building digital products. Simple explanations.
The principle
No-code is platforms that replace writing code with visual interfaces: you drag and drop blocks, you connect elements, you configure rules. What a developer did by typing lines, you build by clicking. The code still exists underneath — but the tool generates it for you.
What we can create in no-code
- Websites— showcases, portfolios, blogs (Webflow, Framer, Wix).
- Applications— internal tools, web or mobile applications (Bubble, Glide, Adalo).
- Databases and back offices— to organize and manage information (Airtable, Notion).
- Customer portals and forms— member areas, appointment bookings, advanced forms (Softr, Tally).
Who is it for?
No-code is ideal if you have an idea but not the technical skills, if you want to quickly test a product before investing, or if you want a tailor-made tool without the budget of traditional development. It is also widely used internally by companies to automate and organize their work.
Limits to know
No-code is not magic. For very specific, high-performance or very large-scale needs, traditional development is sometimes still necessary. And even in no-code, building well requires method: that's why many call on a specialized freelancer to lay solid foundations, even if it means taking control afterwards.
In summary
No-code enormously lowers the barrier to entry: you can now create a real digital product without being a developer. It's a great starting point for bringing an idea to life quickly and inexpensively.
